Panasonic PACi NX
Adaptive Ducted
Smart Plus Cooling designs and installs Panasonic PACi NX adaptive ducted air conditioning, in Elite and Standard versions, for offices, shops, clinics and larger homes across Dartford, Bexleyheath, Gravesend, Kent, Essex and the South East. Adjustable static pressure up to 150 Pa means it can handle longer duct runs than a slim residential unit.
Trusted and certified by leading industry bodies
Commercial-Style Ducted, Built To Adapt
The PACi NX adaptive ducted unit is Panasonic's medium static pressure ducted indoor unit from its PACi light commercial range. It sits out of sight in a ceiling void or plant space and delivers heated or cooled air through ductwork to ceiling or wall grilles, with a single R32 outdoor unit doing the work outside.
The word that matters is adaptive. External static pressure can be set anywhere from 10 Pa to 150 Pa, so the fan can be matched to the ductwork rather than the other way round. That gives far more freedom over duct length, grille numbers and filter choice than a low static pressure unit such as the UD3 slim ducted, and it is why PACi NX is the unit we usually design around for commercial air conditioning projects and bigger homes.
It comes in two versions, Elite and Standard, which share the same indoor unit and differ in the outdoor unit, operating range and pipe lengths. As a Panasonic Pro Partner based in Dartford, we survey, design the ductwork, install and commission with our own F-Gas certified engineers, and service the system afterwards.
- External static pressure adjustable from 10 Pa up to 150 Pa.
- Elite and Standard versions, from 3.6 kW to 14.0 kW.
- nanoe X Generator Mark 2 air purification fitted as standard.
- Horizontal or vertical installation, with rear or bottom air inlet.
- Drain pump included and a 250 mm high indoor unit.
- R32 refrigerant, with single-phase and three-phase outdoor units.
Where PACi NX Makes Sense
PACi NX adaptive ducted earns its place where a slim residential unit would run out of puff: bigger floor areas, more grilles, longer ducts or higher filtration. These are the projects where we recommend it.
Offices
Open-plan floors and meeting rooms with suspended ceilings suit ducted perfectly. Air is spread across several grilles, and the only things on show are the grilles and a wall controller. See our commercial air conditioning service.
Shops and showrooms
Keeps the shop floor clear of wall units and works with retail ceiling layouts. We plan the install around your opening hours.
Clinics and treatment rooms
Concealed equipment, quiet grilles and nanoe X fitted as standard make it a tidy choice for dental, aesthetic and healthcare rooms.
Larger homes
For a big open-plan ground floor or a whole floor of bedrooms, the higher static pressure lets one unit feed more grilles than a slim ducted unit. Single-phase outdoor units are available right up to 14.0 kW.
Long duct runs
Where the unit has to sit in a plant room, loft or corridor ceiling some way from the rooms it serves, adjustable static pressure up to 150 Pa gives the fan the push the ductwork needs.
Fit-outs and refurbishments
Commercial fit-outs and refurbishments with the ceilings open are the easiest time to install. Horizontal or vertical mounting gives more options for where the unit goes.
Elite vs Standard Compared
Both versions use the same PF3 adaptive ducted indoor unit. The difference is in the outdoor unit: Elite pairs with Panasonic's higher-specification outdoor units, giving a wider operating range, longer pipe runs and smaller capacities, while Standard covers the mid to larger sizes for projects that do not need those extras.

Installation and Duct Design
A ducted system is only as good as its ductwork. With PACi NX the flexibility is there, but it still has to be designed properly for comfort, airflow and noise.
Setting static pressure
Panasonic sets the unit at 30 to 50 Pa from the factory depending on size. We calculate the resistance of your ducts, grilles and filters and set the static pressure to suit, so the system moves the right amount of air without being noisy.
Ceiling space
The indoor unit is 250 mm high and 730 mm deep, and 800 mm, 1,000 mm or 1,400 mm wide depending on capacity. Ductwork, insulation and service access need to be allowed for on top.
Horizontal or vertical
The unit can be mounted horizontally in a ceiling or vertically in a cupboard or plant space, with the return air taken from the rear or the bottom.
Plenums and grilles
Panasonic makes outlet plenums for each indoor unit size. We lay out supply and return grilles so air reaches every part of the room and the return path is clear.
Condensate
A drain pump is built in, which gives more freedom over where the condensate goes. We still plan a proper drain route and access to it for servicing.
Zoning
For room-by-room control, see the PACi NX Multi Zone Duct or Airzone zoning with Panasonic, and we will advise which suits the layout.
Controls and Apps
PACi NX works with Panasonic's commercial controllers, from a simple wall controller to app control across a group of units.
Wired controllers
Panasonic lists the CZ-RTC6 wired controller for these kits, and the CZ-RTC6BL version lets the system be set up over Bluetooth. The CZ-RTC5B wired controller is also offered.
CONEX
Panasonic's CONEX wired controller adds IoT integration, with operation and maintenance settings, service and diagnostics available from a smartphone or tablet.
Panasonic Comfort Cloud
The CZ-CAPWFC1 Commercial WLAN Adaptor connects one indoor unit, or a group of up to eight, to the Comfort Cloud app for control, weekly schedules, error alerts and multi-user access.
Things To Consider
PACi NX is a capable unit, but it is not the answer for every building. Here is what we talk through before recommending it.
It needs a void
At 250 mm high before ductwork, it needs a reasonable ceiling void or plant space. For tight voids in homes, the slimmer UD3 slim ducted may suit better.
Elite or Standard
If you rely on it for heating in cold weather, need a long pipe run or want a smaller capacity, Elite is usually the right call. Standard suits simpler jobs in the mid to larger sizes.
One mode per system
A single ducted unit is either heating or cooling at any one time. Areas with very different needs, such as a sunny front office and a cool back room, may need separate systems or zoning.
Power supply
Single-phase outdoor units cover the whole range, which suits most homes and small premises. Three-phase options are there for larger sizes where the building has a three-phase supply.
Outdoor unit position
We find a position that keeps pipe runs within limits, gives service access and keeps noise away from neighbours and windows.
Multiple indoor units
Panasonic offers twin, triple and double twin combinations within the PF3 range for larger single spaces. We check which combinations suit your kit at the design stage.
Your Project Journey
From the first visit to a commissioned system, here is how a PACi NX ducted project runs with us.
Survey
An engineer measures the space, checks the ceiling void, power supply and outdoor unit positions, and talks through how the building is used and when.
System Design
We size the unit, choose Elite or Standard, design the ductwork, grilles and static pressure, and give you a clear written quote and programme.
Install and Commission
F-Gas certified engineers fit the units, ductwork and pipework, pressure test, then commission the system and set the static pressure to the finished ductwork.
Handover and Servicing
We show you the controls, set up app access and register your warranty. Our servicing team keeps filters, coils and drains in good order afterwards.
