Bromley Air Conditioning Installation

Bromley is a borough of very different homes sitting side by side. Within a few streets you can go from a bay-fronted Victorian terrace near Bromley North, to a 1930s semi in Hayes, to a top-floor flat in one of the newer blocks around Bromley South. Each one overheats for a different reason, and each needs a different answer.

That is why every job starts with a proper survey rather than a catalogue. Our F-Gas certified engineers look at room sizes, glazing, which way the house faces, where pipework can run and where an outdoor unit will sit without annoying you or your neighbours. Only then do we recommend a system.

We are based a short drive away in Dartford, so Bromley, Bickley, Shortlands, Sundridge Park, Hayes and Bromley Common are part of our regular round. The same engineers who fit your system are the ones who come back to service it.

Whether you want one cool bedroom or the whole house on a single outdoor unit, we will talk you through the options plainly and leave the decision with you.

Local Knowledge

Built Around Bromley Homes

We do not treat a loft room in Shortlands the same way as a glass-fronted apartment in the town centre. Here is how we approach the property types we see most often around Bromley.

Victorian and Edwardian terraces

The older streets around Bromley North, Plaistow and Bromley Common have solid brick walls and tall sash windows. We keep indoor units off chimney breasts and original cornicing, and route pipework to the rear so the frontage is left untouched.

1930s semis in Hayes and Bickley

Inter-war semis usually have a warm box room and a south or west facing main bedroom. A multi-room system lets two or three bedrooms share one outdoor unit, typically tucked along the side return or at the back of the garage.

Flats near Bromley South

Newer apartments tend to be well insulated with large windows, which is exactly why they hold heat. We help you check lease and managing agent requirements before recommending a unit and a condenser position that suits the building.

Loft conversions

Dormer and hip-to-gable lofts are common across Shortlands and Sundridge Park, and they are nearly always the hottest room in the house. A compact wall unit or a low-level console under the eaves usually solves it.

Conservatories and garden rooms

South-facing conservatories on the larger plots towards Keston and Hayes can be unusable in July and cold in January. One correctly sized unit brings the room back into use in both seasons.

Shops, offices and clinics

From High Street retail units to offices and treatment rooms around the town centre, our commercial air conditioning team installs and maintains systems with as little disruption to trading as possible.

Your Questions Answered

Bromley Air Conditioning FAQs

Which parts of Bromley do you cover?
We install and service across the BR1 and BR2 postcodes, including Bromley town centre, Bickley, Shortlands, Sundridge Park, Plaistow, Hayes, Keston and Bromley Common. We also travel to Beckenham, West Wickham, Chislehurst and Petts Wood. If you are further into Kent, see our air conditioning in Kent page.
Can air conditioning be fitted in a Victorian terrace?
Yes. Solid walls are straightforward to core through, and most terraces have a rear elevation or side return where the outdoor unit can sit out of view. We plan the pipe run at the survey so nothing is fixed to the front of the house and period features inside are left alone.
I live in a flat near Bromley South. Is air conditioning possible?
Often, yes, but it depends on your lease and your building. Leasehold flats usually need consent from the freeholder or managing agent for anything fixed to the outside, and some blocks have rules on where a condenser can go. We can provide the technical details you need for that request and advise on the options at the survey.
Will the outdoor unit disturb my neighbours?
Modern inverter units are quiet in normal operation, and positioning does most of the remaining work. On closely spaced Bromley streets we avoid mounting units beside a neighbour's bedroom window or in a narrow alley that reflects sound, and we use anti-vibration mounts as standard.
Does an air conditioning system heat as well as cool?
The systems we install are air-to-air heat pumps, so they heat and cool. Many Bromley customers use them to warm a loft room, conservatory or home office on its own without running the whole central heating system. You can read more on our main air conditioning page.
How long does a home installation take?
A single room system is normally completed in a day. Multi-room systems take longer, depending on the number of indoor units and the length of the pipe runs. We give you a realistic timescale with your quote, and our installation guide explains each stage.
